Those of you who visit this site regularly, you may have noticed the sudden
'STOP' which occurred as Spring arrived in 2006. Unfortunately I discovered
that computing can be hazardous to your health. Between old age and too much
work, I developed tendonitis in both arms and it set me back on doing
everything!
The railway was run, but not much 'work' occurred, and as you can tell, the
website came to a massive, grinding halt.
Having had some time to discover my limitations, I am slowly (operative
word) updating both the railway and the website. Sorry if this has been an
inconvenience to anyone, but it goes to show just how much depends on good
health in everything.
Anyway, enough wingeing, it is time to progress. |
For the rest of 2006, the garden grew, we ran some trains and I discovered
even the weight of my digital SLR camera was a challenge to my wrists and
arms.
Summer was beautiful and, for once, I just sat back and enjoyed the
garden. The Skeena Pacific policy of always being able to run trains, even
if it's during a major track disruption, paid off. |

Winter arrived early, for these parts, with the end of November having a
major dump of snow. Traffic came to a sudden halt as cars and equipment were
trapped by the inclement weather. |
Good old "9160" and the relief train from the south is seen exiting Edziza
Tunnel. The lines were cleared and just in time, too, as the temperature
plummeted to minus 16 celsius. (Hey, that's cold for the west coast!) And
then everything that might have been wet, froze solid. With switches
properly aligned, Skeena Pacific continued to operate. "All Weather Trains"
don't ya' know! |

In mid- December, Skeena Pacific's Christmas Train was operated throughout
the System. Bringing good cheer and a helping hand for the towns and
villages along the way. |
